A New Beginning

A poem inspired by the prompt “Write about a moment when you stepped into a new version of yourself, shedding an old skin or identity. Describe the sensations, the shifting energy, and the new world that opened up to you as you embraced this transformation.” - I didn't follow the prompt exactly but I took myself back to the moment of healing my body completely from chronic pain and injury and the realizations I had in my awakening to the fact that we do not need to persist in struggle.

I am reborn

Anew

I realized I do not have to do any of the preset notions gifted to me.

Be happy, get married, have a job.

I can simply say

No

I will not break and sell my body for someone else to profit

For the illusion of war

The reality of war

Where my body is an unmentionable battleground

And my pain is somehow proliferating honors and medals

Based on the idea

That i have sacrificed and suffered so much

It is bullshit

To bake ourselves into a scrumptious morsel of despair

So that we can FIT IN with each other.

Be as miserable as the next person so that everyone feels company in their misery.

Not me.

I rise up

I say no to the pattern.

I will not break and sell my body for you to profit on the illusion of separation.

There is no one outside of me, truly

So I decide,

I choose

To feel good

In my body

Even now

Even now

No matter what the eyes see

My I is balanced

I am love

I am grace

I am peace.

I teach you to feel good inside of you

Because I taught me to feel good inside of me

Despite all odds and suggestions that It is imperative and life-threatening for me to do otherwise.
